These are one-day workshops designed for you to bring your entire yearbook staff.

Plan today to attend one of these great workshops where all the basic fundamentals of yearbook will be taught.

Monday, September 18 at Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland for the Seattle/Tacoma area.

Tuesday, September 19th at the Cinetopia Vancouver Mall 23 in the Vancouver Mall for the Portland area.

Wednesday, September 20 at Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee for Central and Eastern Washington.

Thursday September 21 at Pendleton High School in Pendleton, OR

How to get everybody IN IT!

This is what it’s all about. Getting everyone in your yearbook. Getting them in there three times. Getting them identified. Making your students happy. We promise to give you concrete ideas on how to get every student in your school at least three times. Don’t you want them all IN IT as much as possible? Learn the way to do that.

Elective sessions will include:

Sports Photography: Just like it says, how to take great sports shots. Learn from a pro (who takes pics for the Seattle Mariners) how to get the best sports shots.

Portraits: Everything you need to know We’ll talk through what to do once you get your disk, how flowing works, and show you how to enhance your portrait section.

Photoshop 1: Fixing photos that are too dark, too light or yellow from gym lights.Fix  ‘em all.

Photography, On Assignment: (This class will teach students what steps to take once they’ve been given their photo assignment, and teach them the fundamentals of good photography.)

Beginning layout and design: New to yearbook design? This is the class for you.

Storytelling: We will show you how to put writing in your yearbook that your students will want to read.

Yearbook Avenue Basics: Learn to navigate Yearbook Avenue, upload pictures and design your pages. If you are new to yearbook, you should take this!

Photoshop 2: It’s all about the cutouts. Everyone wants to cut out pics. This will show you the best and easiest way possible. And we will do a whole bunch of other fun Photoshop stuff.

This is a perfect time for advisers to ask questions with a successful yearbook adviser, Kelly Burton while your students browse through yearbooks.

9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. . Introduction - Creating a Successful Yearbook

This section will challenge your students to create a successful yearbook by picturing everyone (coverage), spelling their names correctly and getting your pages in on time.

9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Layout & Design, Yearbook Avenue Basics

Even the most advanced students of design sometimes forget the basics. This lesson will show everyone, novice to pro, what it takes to produce good design and six easy steps to create an award-winning layout.

10:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Break and Prizes

10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Copy Writing – Writing Copy That Students Will Read

Learn how to write copy that preserves memories and that your student buyers will want to read. Make your yearbook literate and fun with great copy.

11:15 p.m. to 11:30 a.m. Photo Planning - Top Ten Tips for Yearbook Photo

We believe that every yearbook staffer should be a photographer. These ten tips will help them be the best photographer possible.

11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. How to Use ReplayIt

11:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - Jostens Aviary and Basic Photoshop

12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. - LUNCH (Turkey clubs, fries, popcorn and drinks will be served)

12:45 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Caption Writing - Every Picture Needs a Good Caption

You and your students will learn the basics of caption writing. How to write them and what pitfalls to avoid.

1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Marketing – Creating Buzz

Let’s talk about creating a marketing buzz through yearbook sales, ads and social media.

2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. - Closing Session and Q & A

This fun and informative session will start with a look at good yearbooks from all over the U.S. and finish with a question and answer session.

This fun and informative session will start with a look at good yearbooks from all over the U.S. and  finish up with a humorous tour of the worst yearbook of all time (in our humble opinion). Don't miss it!
